Nespresso Lattissima - Overview
Original and VertuOline are the two trademarks of the Nespresso machines.
The OriginalLine coffee machine extracts every note using a 19-bar high-pressure technology, and they are more nuanced than the VertuoLine ones due to the sooner authentic and hot espresso.
From its OriginalLine counterparts, which come with the Aeroccino bundle like Citiz & Milk or Pixie, Lattissima and Creatista stand above.
The difference between these two series is that the Nespresso Lattissima has pre-programmed buttons for brewing with an integrated milk frother. Whereas the Nespresso Creatista offers you a more manual frothing experience.
Lattissima One is the base model of the Lattissima machines, but it has four other versions as well:
- Lattissima Plus
- Lattissima Touch
- Lattissima Pro
- Gran Lattissima
So, the automatic milk frother differentiates Lattissima One from other espresso machines. Even though the milk container of Lattissima One is by far the tiniest, it holds milk for a single serving.
Pros
Cons
Things to consider before buying Nespresso Lattissima One:
Design and Sleek Footprints
Nespresso Lattissima One espresso machine is an all-in-one machine that knows the economics of space, and it easily fits on your congested kitchen counter. Because of its minimal dimensions (WxDxH) of 6.1 x 12.8 x 10.1 inches, Lattissima One gets the Red Dot Design 2011 award.
Its 6.1 inches width is also a fantastic alternative for persons with meager horizontal space.
Lattissima One’s posh design has a pleasing look because of its chromium-plated lever, drip tray, capsule door, and delicate lines that shimmer among the matte parts.
It weighs 9.3 pounds which means it’s a bit bulkier than other OriginalLine espresso makers, and you can’t take it on outdoor settings.
Note: Delonghi is the sole manufacturer of Lattissima espresso machines. Breville, on the other hand, manufactures the Creastista range.
Nespresso Delonghi Lattissima One comes in four colors Black, Shadow Black, Porcelain White, and Silk White which further boosts its voguish outlook. Lattissima One silky white is my favorite.
Its three-button interface includes Espresso 40ml, Lungo 110ml, and milk drinks (Cappuccino, Latte, Macchiato), which are very convenient to use.
Another add-on is that its drip tray slides to the other side to make room for taller cups. Moreover, its cable length is adjustable due to a cable guide that helps you to store access.
Brewing your Favorite Cup
The brewing procedure is straightforward. Select a brew option after adding the capsule into the capsule compartment.
You need to wait for just 25 seconds, and your espresso/lungo is in front of you, and it is all because of the thermoblock tech.
For other specialty beverages, this Nespresso latte machine takes an extra 15 seconds for the milk frother to heat and froths your preferred milk.
One thing is certain: you can’t tweak the temperature and pressure of the Lattissima One.
Word of Advice: It can brew a taller cup as well. Move the milk spout first, and then fix the cup in it.
Coffee Taste
Undoubtedly, Nespresso machines brew the best espresso, especially when it is the OriginalLine One that exerts 19-bar pressure to extract every single note.
The same is the case with Lattissima One, which brews hot and tasty coffee crowning it with a thick crema.
That makes the espresso or lungo not watery but a bit thick.
Milk Container
Its 4.2oz removable milk container is for a single serving. It labels three milk settings. That labeling will let you know the exact quantity of milk so that it will not waste.
Its milk container isn’t adequate, and you need to refill it again if you need more than one serving.
To make things easier, the jug features a removable cap that allows you to refill in between recipes.
Auto Milk Cleanup Feature
After brewing, an orange light flashes that illustrate that you must clean the Rapid Cappuccino System.
Detach the Rapid Cappuccino System and wash all components in your dishwasher or hot water.
Press the detach button on the side of the milk jug to pull out the Rapid Cappuccino System connector, Milk spout, Milk aspiration tube, and Milk container.
If you want to hand wash them, soak them for at least 30 minutes in mild detergent water that has a temperature of 40°C or 104°F.
Heat Level and the Foam
As per my temperature test, right after the machine brews my espresso, it is up to 70.8°C/159.44°F. However, the latte temperature is up to 59.7°C/139.46°F.
Its temperature is a bit lower than other OriginalLine espresso machines like Citiz & Milk or Pixie Aeroccino Bundle. But all beverages are hotter than other Lattissima models.
When it comes to foam, Nespresso itself recommends cow’s milk or semi-skimmed milk at refrigerated temperature. This means any vegan/plant-based milk will not make the silky froth you want on your latte or cappuccino.
Usability and Programmability
I’ve tried and tested the Nespresso Lattissima One and noticed a few things while using it.
To enter the programming mode, press and hold the Espresso or Lungo button for at least 3 seconds. The button will rapidly blink. After reaching the desired volume, release the button, and now it is saved for the future.
To brew espresso, fill the water tank, insert a capsule, close the lever, and use cup support to avoid splashes. For milk beverages, fill the milk jug, insert a capsule, close the lid, and click the milk button.
Capsule Compatibility
Nespresso Lattissima One espresso machine is from the OriginalLine model, and it is compatible with OriginalLine Nespresso capsules and not the VertuoLine. It offers compatibility with non-Nespresso coffee pod brands like L’OR, Meseta, Lavazza, or Caffè Borbone (all mentioned brands are budget-friendly as they come in a variety pack).
Nespresso Lattissima has a used capsule container that can store eight capsules located under the coffee spout. The insertion and ejection system of capsules in Lattissima One is manual.
Water Reservoir
Lattissima One offers a 33.8 oz transparent water tank located in the back.
The machine also comes with a water hardness sticker (attached to the user manual). When you place the sticker in water for one sec, you’ll see red squares vary from 0 to 4. The more the mineral content in water, the more delicious your coffee is.
You can check the exact setting from the manual guide.
Cleaning and Descaling
Lattissima One has detachable parts that make the cleaning as easy as possible.
Detach the Rapid Cappuccino System parts and rinse them. Clean the surface with a damp cloth. Place a bowl under the coffee spout and press the Lungo button to rinse.
Descale the machine when the descaling alert shines orange in ready mode. It takes almost 20 minutes for descaling.

Environmental Impact
Pods are a big environmental issue. Nespresso's dedicated recycling program can recycle the capsule. You must purchase the aluminum coffee capsules from Nespresso and then return them to the brand, which will handle the rest.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you want an inexpensive espresso machine in the Lattissima range, then go with the Lattissima One, as it has sufficient features, and its integrated milk frother will mix in your beverage automatically. Its luxe outlook will match your modern kitchen. It brews hot espresso and latte more than other Lattissima machines. It is ideal for those who live alone as its milk container is single served.
Buy Lattissima Plus if you need a large milk jug for several users. If you don't want to empty the capsule container after every eight capsules, Gran Lattisima is the best option due to its used capsule capacity which is 14.
