Tea bags have been around for decades, but the coffee, tea bags just made an entrance and they're here to stay.

In this article, I’ll answer the most common questions about coffee bags and you’ll learn how to make your own coffee bags.

So let’s start brewing! Before we get into that, let me introduce coffee tea bags.

Coffee tea bags

Coffee bags have all of the flavor and scent of a standard barista-style coffee, but with the ease of tea bags.

A coffee bag waits bag is a sealed material bag containing roasted and ground coffee that may be used as a single coffee serving in a cup or mug by simply pouring over hot water and brewing for 2–5 minutes.

Why are coffee, tea bags better?

Coffee bags don’t reach the flavor scale of a French press or a Keurig as they use pressurized hot water to get the flavor out of the coffee grounds.

They still do a pretty good job giving you that instant caffeine shot in the morning. Not only that, here are some other reasons why Coffee bags are all the hype nowadays.

Convenience due to coffee, tea bags

If you think about it, coffee, tea bags were bound to happen. There is loose leaf tea, but most people use easy-to-use tea bags to make their tea.

Why not make this coffee? Normal ways to make coffee take a lot of time to set up and clean up, which makes them hard to do when you're in a bit of a rush and don't have much time.

Coffee bags are the quickest way to create high-quality coffee, and they have several advantages over other single-serve brewing techniques.

How are Coffee tea bags different from K-cups?

K-Cups are the closest thing to coffee, tea bags in terms of practicality, but they aren't as easy to use or customizable.

When you are using K-Cups, you still need a machine, which means you can't make coffee anywhere you want.

The difference is not that significant if you only make coffee at home, but if you make coffee on a camping trip or in an office, coffee tea bags are a clear winner.

K-cups are also much worse for the ecosystem than coffee bags.

Coffee, tea bags are always on the Go

Coffee, tea bags are convenient for a portable coffee maker, whether you're on the road or just want to keep a supply at the office.

With a cup and hot water, you can make coffee anywhere with a coffee tea bag. The greatest part is that there is almost no cleanup.

When the coffee is done brewing, take out the bag and throw it in the bin. Simple as that!

By composting coffee grounds, you can also give your garden soil an extra boost in the spring.

  • Add 8 oz hot water to it.
  • Now start dunking the coffee, tea bag in the water for a good three minutes or until you have reached your desired consistency.
  • Add some (2 oz) hot water to your mug.
  • After removing the coffee tea bag, add in your favorite creamer if you like and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee.

Here is a Tip:  Make sure you remove your coffee bag from your cup after getting your desired coffee texture, otherwise it’ll get bitter.

Difference between Coffee tea bags & Instant coffee?

Instant Coffee

The coffee grounds in instant coffee are of the lowest quality, which affects the taste. Instant coffee grounds are made by either freeze-drying as well as spray-drying the ingredients.

For freeze-drying, the coffee is cooked to extract the oil, and then it is chilled at 20°F till it is almost like slush.

This slushy solution is then chilled once more at -40°F to make frozen coffee slabs, which are then sent down into a drying vacuum to be vaporized and broken up into granules.

Spray drying involves spraying a thin mist of liquid coffee concentrate into hot 480°F air; when this spray hits the ground and the water evaporates, the coffee concentrate will dry into minute granules.

The granules left are packaged instant coffee.

Coffee bags

On the other side, coffee bags are made of freshly ground coffee which is put into bags and sealed with heat.

They look very much like tea bags as well as work exactly the same way. This means that it will taste like coffee made with a carafe or an open filter.

Can I make my own coffee Bag?

Yes, you definitely can! Why purchase coffee bags when you can make them with your favorite type of roasted coffee beans.

As a coffee enthusiast, I can understand that we have our own choices of ground coffee roast types and it would be amazing to get them in an easy coffee bag.

Here are some simple steps you can follow to make your own coffee tea bags

  • Get yourself some empty biodegradable tea bags.
  • Toss in your favorite coffee beans to the grinder. The reason why I suggest grinding a fresh batch of coffee is that oxygen can mess up the notes and flavors of coffee. You can keep the rest of the coffee grounds in a sealed box to keep them fresh.
  • Ground these coffee beans to Turkish coffee ground size to get the maximum coffee flavor and aroma. Many coffee drinkers like it finely ground.
  • Add 30 ML or 2 tbsp ground coffee to the bags. This will be enough coffee grounds for a perfectly steeped coffee.
  • Fold them in the two top corners and staple the tea bag to the twine, but remember to leave a gap between the coffee grounds and the closing end of the tea bag. Basically, this trick will access hot water to really take out the coffee flavor and freshness from the sachets.

There you have it. Your own customized Coffee Bags are ready to be enjoyed.

Final Thoughts

Making your own coffee, tea bags is quite a chore, but it's so worth the hype. The coffee brewed from these bags hits just the right spot.

The reason why people opt for instant coffee is because of its easy brewing process. But instant coffee has slightly less caffeine content as compared to these coffee tea bags.

So if you need some instantly brewed coffee that beats French press coffee with its caffeine kick, then Coffee tea bags are the thing for you.
